Situated only 12 miles from the downtown Portland area, Portland International (PDX) airport can be reached via I-5 or I-205. When travelling to Indianapolis International (IND) from this airport, the flight times are usually just over four hours in total. The destination airport is only seven miles from the downtown Indianapolis area, and can be reached via the taxi service located outside Baggage Claim on the lower level of the terminal, or the city bus service Route 8.
For hiking, sailing, swimming and fishing, be sure to visit The Eagle Greek Park and Nature Preserve. The White River State Park offers more outdoor attractions, such as the Indianapolis Zoo and the Indiana State Museum. If you are a racing enthusiast, then a trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a must-see. If your family is coming along on the trip, check out the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
When visiting Indianapolis in spring, make sure to take an umbrella and bear in mind that the while the weather is warm there can be cold days as well. Summers are humid, while in the winter, layered dressing is important. The best time to visit is fall thanks to the cool and crisp weather. Because of the city layout, it doesn't matter in which area you book a hotel, as you will be within reach of all the attractions.
