Cheap flights from Dallas (DFW) to Oakland (SJC)

Located almost exactly between Dallas and Fort Worth, Dallas/Ft Worth International (DFW) is a short ride from either city on Highway 97, or via several public transport options such as buses, trains or the DART. Typical flight times are three and a half hours to Oakland Metropolitan Oak International (OAK). The airport is located just ten miles south of the city on Highway 880. There are also public transport options such as the BART, trains and buses.

Attractions

Though often overshadowed by its hugely popular neighbor across the Bay, Oakland has plenty of charm of its own. The Oakland Museum of California is an attraction for young and old with its combination of art, history and science exhibits. The city boasts several parks, such as the East Bay Regional Park and the Redwood Regional Park; offering a unique view of the Bay Area without the crowds. Also of note is the city's excellent nightlife, with as centerpiece Heinold's First and Last Chance Saloon, where Jack London himself sat at the bar.

Hints and tips

Oakland's climate is mild, but even in summer can quickly turn cold and damp; travelers are advised to bring rain gear with them at all times of year. Most of the city's hotels can be found in the downtown area between Lake Merritt and the Bay.
