Cheap flights from Chicago to Buffalo
Chicago O'Hare International (ORD), located just west of Chicago, is easily accessible from either I-90 or I-294. If you prefer public transportation, the CTA's blue line and Metra's North Central line connect directly to the airport. Chicago isn't far from Buffalo Niagara International (BUF), and flight times are usually a little under 90 minutes. Buffalo's Metro Bus and Downtown Express can both take you into the city. If you'd rather rent a car, I-90 South can take you into Buffalo. Loop northwest on I-290 and I-190 to go to Niagara Falls.
Attractions and tips
The most famous attraction near Buffalo and Niagara is, of course, Niagara Falls. The 400-acre Niagara Falls State Park lets you explore the area around the 165-foot waterfalls, which are beautifully illuminated at night. The Maid of Mist boat tour and the Cave of Winds bridge both all but dunk you under the falls. If you'd like to stay dry, try viewing the falls from above in a helicopter tour, visiting the historical site of Fort Niagara, or enjoying the park's hiking trails and campgrounds.
If you want to take in amusement parks or casinos, bring your passport, as most of the ‘touristy’ attractions are on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, while the American side leans more toward hiking and naturalism. Bring a poncho and flip-flops or water shoes; you are guaranteed to get soaked on the Maid of Mist and Cave of Winds.
