The Chicago O’Hare International (ORD) Airport is located on the northwest side of the city. If you are coming from The Loop or the downtown area, you can choose to take the CTA or the Metra Rail. The Pace Suburban bus brings people in from the suburbs. Typical flight times are two-and-a-half hours to San Antonio International (SAT) Airport. Ride the eight miles to the downtown area in the convenient GO shuttle. You can also arrange for a taxi, shuttle or rental car.

Attractions and Tips

The Alamo is one of the main attractions in San Antonio. It was here that a relatively small amount of men held off the Mexican army for 13 days. Guided tours are available if you want to learn more about the history of The Alamo. The San Fernando Cathedral, as well as the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, is also worth seeing during your visit. The three hundred acres of the Brackenridge Park also calls to visitors with shaded walkways and various gardens. The San Antonio Zoo and the Witte Museum are both close by.

For a break in milder temperatures, consider visiting sometime between November and April. Interestingly, this is also not considered a peak season for visitors. In the summer, visitors flood into the city, with the hot and humid weather conditions pushing temperatures up to the mid-90s.
