Texas holds the record for the second largest state in the United States, which allowed it to be a nation of its own at one time. The Alamo in San Antonio, the State Capitol with 19th-century architecture and Galveston Island are historical attractions. The historic Houston Space Center, the Dallas World Aquarium with its beautiful aquatic life and the River Walk add to the destinations that dot Texas's vast landscape.
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) represents one major travel hub. Arrival there puts you three hours away from any destination in the eastern and central parts of Texas. George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) represent the two other major airports in Texas. These are primarily used to access the capitol area and Gulf Coast regions of Texas.
The geography of Texas has led it to develop unique cultures with even more unique histories. The Gulf Coast part of Texas has the truest “Tex-Mex” heritage in the entire state, with festivals along the Rio Grande and the River Walk in San Antonio during Cinco de Mayo. Texas' weather can be considered a mild 70 degrees Fahrenheit during the spring, a sizzling 100 degrees Fahrenheit during summer and a chilly 30 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit during fall and winter, with surprise rain showers occurring throughout the remainder of the year.
