A trailblazer in theatre tradition
The venue was first opened as the Guild Theatre in 1925 under great fanfare, kicking off its legacy with a spectacular performance of George Bernard Shaw's Caesar and Cleopatra. In 2005 the venue was rechristened the August Wilson Theatre, honoring the recently passed American playwright.
