About Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are the only team in the NFL named after their coach. Ironically, that same coach, who was also a co-founder of the franchise, was fired when Art Modell took over. Paul Brown co-founded the Browns with businessman Arthur B. McBride in 1945 as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). When the AAFC shut down in 1949, the Cleveland Browns transferred to the NFL, and cheap Cleveland Browns tickets have been highly regarded ever since.
History of the Browns
The Browns won all four championships while playing in the AAFC. After joining the NFL, they won championships in 1950, 1954, 1955 and 1964. In 1995, Art Modell tried moving the Browns to Baltimore but was met with fierce backlash from fans and the city of Cleveland. The NFL suspended the Browns from 1996 to 1998 while Modell established a new team in Baltimore.
Since 1999, the Browns have struggled to achieve the same level of success they enjoyed before Modell's failed Baltimore move. Regardless, Ohioans have proved to be loyal fans who continue to buy cheap Browns tickets to show their support and cheer on their team.
The Cleveland Browns Stadium
FirstEnergy Stadium is the home of Browns games. Located in downtown Cleveland near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the stadium has a seating capacity of 67,431, which is actually less than it seated before its renovation in 2013. When Modell relocated to Baltimore to create the Ravens, the city tore down the original Browns home stadium, Cleveland Municipal Stadium, and constructed FirstEnergy in its place. Did you know these facts about the Browns?
- The Cleveland Browns won the NFL championship during their first year in the league.
- The roster and staff of the Browns relocated to Baltimore when Modell created the Ravens. Only the history and colors of the Browns were left behind in Cleveland, where new staff had to fill the void.
- Fans of the team insisted on naming it after the head coach. Paul Brown, however, didn't want to name the team after himself. Due to a voting contest, the Browns name was solidified anyway.
The Biggest Browns Rivalries
The Cleveland Browns have seen several rivalries since their establishment, creating a steady demand for cheap Browns game tickets. During the AAFC years, their biggest rival was considered the San Francisco 49ers, but that has cooled down, and some would even say they're on friendly terms now. The Browns' current top rivals include the Bengals and Steelers, so Browns tickets for these games are always in high demand.
Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Animosity between Paul Brown and Art Modell served as the catalyst for the Browns/Bengals rivalry. When Paul Brown was kicked out of the Browns franchise he helped build, he took the equipment with him and created a new team called the Bengals. This rivalry is further fueled by cultural differences between Cleveland and Cincinnati. Modell also moved the Browns to the AFC for the sake of being conference rivals. Browns game tickets sell out quickly when they face the Bengals.
Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Another team Modell wanted a rivalry with was the Steelers. He made sure that the Cleveland Browns schedule included games against the Steelers on Saturday nights to encourage the rivalry. This went on for a period of six years between 1964 to 1970. The Browns-Steelers rivalry is nicknamed the "Turnpike Rivalry," and early on, the Browns had the edge by winning the first eight match-ups. In recent years, the tide has turned in favor of the Steelers.
