About US Open Golf
US National Champions
The United States Open Championship is one of the four big golf tournaments and is an official part of the PGA and European Tours. The US Golf Association plans the event in the middle of June each year.
The US Open (so called because it's an open tournament as opposed to invitation-only contests like the Masters in Augusta, Georgia) is known for being a high-difficulty set of courses that depend heavily on the accuracy of golfers' driving skills. As a result of the high degree of difficulty, US Open competitions are known for being extremely close throughout, with a very rare amount of decisive victories that aren't close. The courses are designed to be tricky, with lots of long grass and high-graded greens.
The US Open first took place in 1895 and consisted of only nine holes on a small course in Rhode Island with a whopping $150 cash price to first place. Despite its name, the U.S. Open was mainly commanded by seasoned English players until John J. McDermott became the first American player to win in 1911.
The U.S. Open is one of the most respect and prestigious events in all of golf— don't miss out on your chance to be a part of history. Buy your tickets today.
