About the Performers
Motley Crue
Motley Crue was originally founded in the 1980s by Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, who were later joined by Mick Mars and Vince Neil. Their hybrid heavy metal and glam rock sound was unprecedented — as was their rock and roll lifestyles. The band cultivated their image of outrageous and unrepentant rockers — drawing a huge and devoted fan base with each wild adventure.
Motley Crue catapulted to international success quickly, especially after rocker Ozzy Osbourne invited them to open for his 1984 world tour. Motley Crue released album after album of chart-toppers, including such smash hits as "Shout at the Devil" and "Wild Side." Motley Crue shows are an intense experience, as only an original glam band from the 1980s can put on.
Def Leppard
Def Leppard started building their loyal fan base in the late 1970s, as the heavy metal movement developed in the UK. Def Leppard remained true to their own interpretation of their music and style throughout their music journey and their music continued to increase in popularity around the world.
Their music video "Brinin' On the Heartbreak" was one of the first rock videos shown on MTV in the early 1980s. Their albums have sold over 100 million copies worldwide, and their chart-topping singles include such classics as "Pour Some Sugar on Me," "Love Bites," and "Rock of Ages." VH1 declared them number 31 in their list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock."
Poison
The band initially found moderate success on the local Pennsylvania circuit playing covers, but they risked it all when they moved to Los Angeles in 1980 and changed their name to Poison. Years spent pouring out their passion on the stages of Los Angeles clubs finally paid off when Poison signed with Enigma Records and released their debut album in 1986. Poison ignited the world with their big-hair and controversial album art, quickly becoming known as an electric and entrancing live act. By the 1990s, the band had started to crack under internal pressure. Lead singer Bret Michaels and guitarist C.C. DeVille even came to blows at the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards. But the rock star attitudes didn't hold the band back from success, and many of their singles have gone on to become rock classics.
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
Joan Jett is one of a kind, and largely viewed as the mother of rock n' roll as we know it. Her original band, The Runaways, rose to extreme fame back in the 70s, with a range of mega-hits to reach the top of the charts throughout their storied career. Now, she's back and better than ever, touring with an equally beloved band as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. This is the band that gave the world "I Love Rock 'N' Roll." Legendary? We sure think so.
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts have put out countless albums over the years, yielding plenty of classic singles such as the cover of her first band's "Cherry Bomb," as well as "Bad Reputation". The band reached the top 100 in several charts for eight different songs between the early 80s and 1991. The band was also awarded the International Single of the Year at the Juno Awards in 1983 for "I Love Rock 'N' Roll” and, of course, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
