Scaling to New Heights
Women's basketball at the University of Syracuse officially got its start with the 1971-1972 season. While the team flew under the radar for that first decade, in 1985 the Orange made their NCAA Tournament debut. They were eliminated in the first round, but their appetite for post-season glory was not satiated. It would be over a decade before Syracuse made it to the second round. Throughout the 2000s, the team became a regular contender in the tournament, but their drives were short-lived – that is, until 2016. Seeded No. 4, Syracuse defied expectations by upsetting No. 1-seeded South Carolina in the Sweet Sixteen and multiple title-holder Tennessee in the Elite Eight. However, in the final game, Syracuse fell to the defending champions from Connecticut, who clinched their fourth consecutive title.
Still, Syracuse sparkles on the court with new promise, poised to steal the attention from historically dominant schools. See what new heights the team jumps to by getting your cheap Syracuse Orange women's basketball tickets today!
