Dynamic Performers from the Start
Started in Los Angeles in 1983, the first Red Hot Chili Peppers concert was attended by only thirty people. The crowd loved their music so much they were invited back to the venue the following week. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1984 and toured extensively in the US. While the members struggled with addiction and lineup changes, the band continued to produce hit music. Blood Sugar Sex Magik was released in 1991, a smash-hit success. With their signature blend of punk rock and psychedelic funk, the Red Hot Chili Peppers had a lasting impact on the music scene. Songs like "Californication" and "Under the Bridge" have become radio mainstays.
