About Matchbox Twenty

Rock Kings Decked Out in Gold, Platinum, and Diamond
In 1995 Rob Thomas, Brian Yale, and Paul Doucette split off from the band Tabitha's Secret to launch Matchbox Twenty with Adam Gaynor and Kyle Cook. They were an instant sensation, singles like "Real World," "3 A.M.," and "Back 2 Good" stealing hours of airplay. In 1999 Rob Thomas worked with Santana to create the hit "Smooth," which snagged three Grammy Awards. Over the next several albums, the band began to develop a pop rock sound, with singles like "Bent," "Bright Lights," "Push," and "If You're Gone" solidifying the band's legacy before they went on hiatus in 2004. The band reunited in 2007, though it wasn't until five years later that North was released. The band buckled under internal pressures in 2016, but the next year they announced A Brief History of Everything Tour, comforting fans with an epic review of their music.
