About San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are one of the most successful franchises in NBA history. With five championships (fourth-best record in the NBA), six conference titles, and twenty division titles, the Spurs have been the home of some truly legendary players and coaches over their 48-year history. Additionally, the Spurs also hold the record for highest winning percentage in all of the NBA. Come check out this record-breaking team and grab some tickets to a game!

The team was founded in 1967 and were originally named the Dallas Chaparrals. Their first few seasons were a bit of a struggle, as they weren’t winning in many games and didn’t have a strong fanbase which resulted in poor attendance at games. However, once they moved to San Antonio in 1973, their luck began to turn around. They were able to hold their own in more games and gained a loyal fanbase. In 1976 they proved their talents and joined the NBA.

The team’s great record began with the addition of center David Robinson in the 1980s, who led the Spurs to achieve the biggest change in winning percentage from one season to the next. NBA superstar Tim Duncan also helped lead the Spurs to five Championships, which has contributed to Spurs reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the court. Be sure to catch current players like LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay, and Danny green tear up the court at San Antonio’s AT&T Center. Games against fellow Texan teams like the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks have potential to be some of the most intense matchups in all of the NBA. Spurs vs. Rockets

This rivalry began in 1976 when the Spurs moved into the NBA. They competed for the division title in 1977-1979 with the Spurs winning twice and the Rockets winning once. The two teams have competed against each other multiple times in significant games. The matches are always close, and when one team gains a win, the other proves to be tough competition for the next game. Grab some tickets to see who will win the next game!

Spurs vs. Mavericks

Although the Mavericks are only one of three teams in the Western Conference to make it to the NBA Finals, the Spurs surely give them tough competition. In the early 2000s, the Spurs always seemed to have the upper hand.  But in 2006, the Mavs turned their luck around and were able to make it to the NBA Finals by moving past the Spurs. Whenever these two teams meet head to head, competition is fierce because they both have a lot to prove. Take it to the court and grab your tickets to catch the intensity!
