Where it All Began

Originally founded as the New Jersey Americans in 1967, the Nets have played in a handful of cities with a handful of different names. In 1968 they moved to Long Island and became the New York Nets, and then in 1977 the team returned to New Jersey and played under the same Nets name. They remained in New Jersey until 2012 when they moved to Brooklyn where they remain today. The Nets have hosted some of the game’s legends which have helped them obtain two national titles and two Eastern Conference Championships. There is only one other NBA team that is located in New York City, and they are the New York Knicks.

Based at Brooklyn’s brand-new Barclays Center, the team was spurred on by then part-owner and rap icon Jay-Z. The Nets have seen some of basketball’s greatest stars step onto their court, including the all-time great “Dr. J” Irving, who’s tenure with the team from 1973 to 1976 led them to their two national championship wins. More recently, the team has been associated with retired guard Jason Kidd, who holds second place in all assists and steals over his career with the Nets. After a series of dry spells for the team, the Nets are back to receiving fresh relevance and have become a major contender in the Eastern Conference again. Now is the time to see this competitive team in action while tickets can still be found for a great price. Get yours today here for the experience of a lifetime!

Rivalries

One of the biggest rivals for the Brooklyn Nets are the Knicks. Having both proven their skills in numerous matches, these teams always have a sense of competition in the air when they meet head to head. Things have only intensified since the signing of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to the Knicks in 2019. And with the Toronto Raptors winning their first NBA Tittle in 2019, they too pose a threat. Other intense matchups include the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls.

Barclays Center

The Barclays Center is a multi-purpose arena that opened in September 2012. It is located in Brooklyn, New York. The arena’s design includes three articulated bands that features a glass curtain wall covered by steel panels. Many details were put into the design of this venue which contributed to the pushback of the original opening date in 2006. The arena includes luxury suites, numerous exclusive clubs, and various concessions and restaurants to enjoy. Grab a bite to eat after you catch a Nets game
