The hotel was rough around the edges. There were gnats in the bathroom and there was rust and missing paint around the AC unit about 6" all around. Dings and scratches all over the furniture. The towels smelled like gasoline. The bed was very comfortable though....it feels like a very classic midtown time square VERY USED hotel.

Make sure you understand all the details fees , Hotel.com gives good discount but the hotel got you with the deposit fees 50$. Nights! No refunds. .AND i understand it’s a old building love it but need a little bit more affection not just fake cosmetics. Easy access close to major parking and TIMES SQUARE and all Theatre.

Do not stay here. The elevators are very old and unreliable. We waited 10 minutes once and then decided to take the stairs down 12 floors. The Deluxe King room barely had enough room to walk around the bed. So we got moved to a larger room but by then it was too late to be able to be comfortable to stay there. Ended up moving the next day to a hotel that was so much better for the same price. The staff was very sympathetic.

The location of The Gallivant Hotel is convenient — just a short 3–5 minute walk to Times Square — but that’s really the only positive part of our stay. The staff were unfriendly and unorganized. The lady at the front desk confused us with other guests, printed the wrong bill, and asked us to pay extra. We had to explain multiple times that our reservation was different and even pointed out the names on the bill before she finally checked again. The room itself was very small, there was no mini fridge, and one of the elevators was out of service, which made the wait time extremely long. Overall, it was a frustrating experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you only care about being close to Times Square.

Location is brilliant! The reception staff were lovely to chat to. The room is satisfactory, a little rough around the edges. Bed was clean and comfortable. You can hear all of NYC out of your window. It was the cleanliness of the shower that bothered me. The cleaning product in the shower made the walls and floor slimy. It felt like you were standing on everybody prior body oils and soap scum. Overall, an adequate room for a reasonable price.

This is the worst hotel. Beside Hose no one is nice. Room 927 mattress has a lump. Room 820 NO AC NO HOT WATER NO TV than they send me to room 809 horrible smell than room 826 NO HOT WATER and I was told I need to take it or leave it because an empty hotel doesn’t have another room that is properly function

The lobby story needs ripping up as its pulls down the hotel dramatically. Our first room was a shocker as it felt like a double room cupboard. We though for cost we would get a much more palatial hotel and massively disappointed - this was our 7th visit to NY and granted we normally stay in the Hilton, Hyatt and Essex - we’ve sailed to NY 3 times by QE2 and QM and flown in by Concorde -this hotel sold itself as something it’s not - it’s a 2 star and needs major renovation….on a plus staff tried hard to sort the room and were all very pleasant 😔

Have you ever been catfished ? Well I have on this property. First it took me 30min to find the hotel & paid $100 for 1 overnight night parking. The Handle on the shower came off when I was showering, the AC never turned on, woke up to someone trying to come into the room to clean but did not knock or any kind of warning (twice)… I could have been naked. Save your money & go to another hotel. Peace & love & safe travels.

The manager Rick is very rude and unwilling to attend customers need. The bed on room 927 has a big lump you can’t sleep. They provide you with only one towel. The location is great but we have better options for the same price.

I had various issues with this property that is still being worked on resolving. First I was not given the room that I booked and second there was a roof leak that flooded the floor of the hotel room and got my suitcase wet. Third there were several issues with the elevators not working. I had no choice but to stay in a room that I did not book and the only satisfactory solution is for a full refund which has been difficult to get. The hotel is unresponsive in phone calls and contacting.

The location was the selling point of this hotel. Other than that, it was fairly miserable. It took several calls to the desk to get a working key to the room. The window air conditioner was filthy and a “Clean Filter” light was on. No hot water the first day. Hand soap and Body Wash dispensers empty. Bugs in room.

They never emailed me my folio. I have a charge on on my credit card I have no clue what it is for and the hotel doesn’t return my call. Every time I call and explain why I’m calling the person just says hold on and transfers me to a voicemail. I’m at the point I will need to dispute the charge with my credit card. Will never stay here again.
