The Beginning
Nate was born on April 16, 1985 in Stockton, California. He began pursuing his interest of martial arts at the age of 11. Early in his career, he competed mostly for World Extreme Cagefighting. He began competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2008, accruing many wins and losses over the years. Some of his most notable fights include in 2011 when he beat former PRIDE Lightweight Champion, Takanori Gomi and winning against Anthony Pettis in 2019 by unanimous decision.
