Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is the gateway to one of America's largest cities. Visitors to Phoenix will find numerous activities, restaurants and parks to explore. The Phoenix Art Museum is world-class, and the Arizona Science Center and Musical Instrument Museum are interesting places for an afternoon outing. Sports lovers will enjoy Phoenix as it is the home of professional baseball, basketball, football and hockey teams. The area is also home to several exquisite golf courses.
Interstate 10 is the major east and west route through Phoenix, and Interstate 17 is a major north and south route. State Route 101 makes a loop around the north, west and east portions of the metropolitan area. Many large suburbs are within driving distance of the airport, including Mesa and Scottsdale. The major city of Tucson is about a two-hour drive to the south.
When traveling between General Mitchell Airport (MKE) and Phoenix, you should plan to spend about three and a half hours in the air on a non-stop flight. Flights with connections may take between five and six hours. Visitors to Phoenix should prepare for very hot weather in the summer, with temperatures in excess of 110 degrees.
