Attractions and Tips

Temple Square is the center for several buildings important to the Mormon faith, such as the Mormon Tabernacle and the Mormon Temple. The State Capitol building rises 300 feet in the air above its surroundings, and is the governmental center of the state of Utah.

Liberty Park is Salt Lake City's largest municipal park, covering 80 acres and featuring many recreational opportunities, as well as some well-placed greenspace.

The Tracy Aviary is famous for being one of the world's oldest aviaries and housing a huge variety of North American species of birds, in addition to birds from around the world. The Beehive House was built in 1854 as a residence for Governor Brigham Young, with his 19 wives and 56 children, and its "beehive" on the turret was intended to symbolize the industry of Mormons.

Winters here are generally cold and snowy, while summer months are hot and humid, frequently reaching temperatures in the 90 degree range. Spring and summer months are characterized by milder temperatures, but are generally subject to generous amounts of precipitation.
