New York John F Kennedy International (JFK) is located just outside of Brooklyn on Jamaica Bay. It is accessible from the Belt Parkway and the Van Wyck Expressway via public transit, private car or car hire. JFK is also serviced by the New York City subway system. From JFK to Washington Dulles International (IAD) typical flight times are about 90 minutes, but can take longer with stops. Once at IAD, passengers can access public transportation or rent a car and drive the 26 miles to Washington, D.C.’s downtown and tourist districts.

Washington, D.C. has a circular layout rather than a traditional grid, so public transit is recommended for visitors for easy traveling. This is also a popular destination for school trips, so be prepared for extra congestion September through May.
