Whether you're flying into Charlotte’s Douglas International Airport (CLT) from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York for business or pleasure, you'll find plenty to enjoy. Though North Carolina's largest city was once primarily a business center, Charlotte is steadily developing into a tourist destination, with the state's most visitor-friendly districts.
Here you'll find Fortune 500 headquarters in Uptown, eclectic art galleries in NoDa, upscale shopping in South End, historic buildings in Myers Park and good eats throughout Plaza-Midwood.
Uptown Charlotte is laid out in a grid pattern with numbered streets conveniently running east to west. But, once you exit the I-277 loop towards the suburbs, having a GPS in your rental car will be handy. It will easily help you find your way to visit the Billy Graham Library, explore the Hendrick Motorsports Complex, bring out your inner-kid in Discovery Place, stroll through Freedom Park, and tour the Mint Museum. If you're more adventurous, head to Carowinds and ride the thrill rides in Boomerang Bay.
After just an hour and a half, the flight from JFK to CLT will be landing. Before leaving the airport, stop into the Charlotte Info Center to pick up brochures and travel advice. Once you pick up your rental car, drive south on Billy Graham Parkway and you'll be in your downtown Charlotte destination in just 15 minutes.
