Travelers taking a flight from Los Angeles, California (LAX) to Baltimore, Maryland (BWI) will notice it literally spans the entire United States, and guests will find the cities are also quite different.
BWI, or the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, is one of three international airports serving the Baltimore/D.C. metro area, and is the closest to downtown Baltimore. From here, visitors can access major attractions such as the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Shot Tower and The Francis Scott Key national monument.
You’ll find the downtown Baltimore area can be accessed via two major interstate highways. Both 295 and 95 will carry travelers from points north and south while Route 40 leads drivers away from the city. Routes converge in the city center near the M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens, the National Aquarium and Maryland Science Center.
You can expect a flight between McCarran International Airport (LAS) and Baltimore to last roughly six hours. You may want to pick up their rental car at BWI and relax at their waterfront hotel before sightseeing.
Historic Fells Point features many antique shops, an open market and cobblestone streets. A few blocks east lies the world renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a few blocks west you'll find the University of Maryland Medical Center.
