Coming from the glamorous Las Vegas area, the Inner Harbor, in Baltimore may seem familiar. The Harbor offers a plaza of restaurants like Cinghiale, as well as plenty of activities, which are surrounded by such great travel destinations as the American Visionary Art Museum, Port Discovery for kids, and the world famous National Aquarium.
Yet Baltimore is very old, and its history is told through historical treasures, which range from Fort McHenry, to the home of Edgar Allen Poe, to the Civil War era USS Constellation.
Driving allows you to explore the city's historic past at your own leisure. Treasures include the original Washington Monument and the Phoenix Shot Tower. Even if you can't catch a baseball game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, you can enjoy the Sports Legends Museum. The city's loop, I-695, leads you eastward to beautiful Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Your flight from McCarran International Airport (LAS)to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) may take about five hours. If you arrive in the evening, you may head to Power Plant Live or one of the other Inner Harbor venues.
For a pub, you may find fun in Mount Vernon, Fells Point or Little Italy neighborhoods. If you long to see the whole city at a glance, try the "Top of the World" at the riverside Baltimore World Trade Center or the earthbound Federal Hill Park.
