The Baltimore/Washington International Airport is also known as the Thurgood Marshall Airport or (BWI). It is located approximately 11 miles south of downtown Baltimore, so you can reach most destinations in the city within 30 minutes by car.
Baltimore is filled with interesting things to see for visitors of all ages, including the National Aquarium, the USS Constellation, the Maryland Science Center, the Maryland Zoo, and a museum celebrating the birthplace of Babe Ruth.
MD-295 North will lead you directly from BWI to most attractions in Baltimore. If you want to enjoy the water, take I-695 East to MD-173 South, also known as Fort Smallwood Road. This trip will take you approximately 30 minutes and will lead to Riviera Beach on Chesapeake Bay.
If you want to visit Washington D.C., take I-95 South from the airport. The trip takes approximately one hour and will give you access to the National Mall, the Smithsonian Institute, Lincoln Memorial and the White House. It is difficult to find accommodations inside the capital, so look for hotels and restaurants in smaller towns between Baltimore and D.C.
A direct flight from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to BWI will take approximately three hours, but expect the trip to take more than five hours if your flight includes stops. If you want to rent a car, head to the lower level of your terminal and look for shuttles headed to the car rental facility.
