The Houston George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) Airport is about 20 miles from the downtown area so the Metro bus is one of the more convenient options to get there. Shuttles and taxis can also provide transportation. Flight duration is just over four hours to Punta Cana (PUJ) Airport. Shuttle buses, taxis and rental cars all head down the Highuey-Punta Cana Highway. From there, travel is anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes, depending on where you are heading.
Punta Cana is a Caribbean getaway that caters to those looking to enjoy the sunshine. The soft sand and white beaches tend to be a big draw. Both the Punta Espada Golf Course and the La Cana Golf Course make it possible for you to try your hand at golf while enjoying the upscale atmosphere. Both Dolphin Island as well as Manati Park provides you the opportunity to interact with animals.
There is no time of year when the beaches will be empty of visitors. The average highs are in the 80s between March and May, making it a great time to plan a trip. Even though the weather is for the most part great in June to November, it is hurricane season and severe tropical storms do take place periodically.
