About Hirschfeld Theatre
Kinky Boots is one of Broadway's newest musicals that is winning audiences over left and right. The show features a Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper and has
Tony-winning choreography by Jerry Mitchell. The story, for those that aren't familiar, is inspired by true events. Charlie Price inherits his father's shoe factory and in an
attempt to save the business, consults cabaret star Lola to great some pretty outrageous footwear. Since 2013, the show has swept the Tonys with 13 nominations and 6 wins
including Best Musical, so be sure to get some cheap Kinky Boots tickets at the Hirschfeld Theatre to witness the outlandish charm for yourself. This show is based on
Kinky Boots, the 2005 British film and the story of Steve Pateman who decided to create the fetish boots for men, Divine Footwear.
The Al Hirschfeld
Theatre was designed by G. Albert Lansburgh for vaudeville advocate Martin Beck. As such, the theatre was originally named the Martin Beck Theatre. In 1965, the theater was
sold to Jujamcyn Theatres from the Beck family. On June 21, 2003 the theatre was renamed the Al Hirschfeld Theatre to honor the famous caricaturist who drew comics of Broadway
stars. It was a tribute to him on Hirschfeld's one hundredth birthday. Although he passed away before the grand reopening, Hirschfeld was aware he would be receiving the
honor. On November 23, 2003 the Al Hirschfeld Theatre was reopened playing the musical "Wonderful Town." With 1,424 seats, the playhouse was designed to be one of the biggest
and most luxurious theatres. Some of your favorite musicals have since been performed on that stage including The Sound of Music, Hair and Guys and
Dolls.
The theatre is located in midtown Manhattan on 302 West 45th Street. It was designed with a Byzantine-style with lots of stained glass, iron, grooved columns and curved balconies. The location itself is right in the middle of the heart of entertainment in the city, so Al Hirschfeld tickets are worth more than just a fun trip to the theatre! This is a golden ticket to really exploring the center of New York City that makes the city famous around the world. Grab your cheap tickets to this musical because it will sweep you off your feet, guaranteed!
