An Atlanta powerhouse

Growing up in Atlanta, Jonathan Smith found his way into the legendary hip hop scene. He started DJing on the local circuit, and in 1995 he founded Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz. Their debut album came out in 1997, but it was 2000's We Still Crunk! that demanded national attention. The group continued to release hit music, featuring artists like Usher, Ludacris, Ying Yang Twins, and Lil' Scrappy. In 2005 his collaboration with Usher and Ludacris on the smash hit single "Yeah!" won a Grammy Award. Lil Jon also started working in TV, appearing on shows like Chappelle's Show, Wild 'N Out, and Celebrity Apprentice. Striking out on his own, Lil Jon masterminded a rock album, though slow production time and problems with the label resulted in years of delays. Finally, Crunk Rock came out in 2010, featuring LMFAO, Soulja Boy, R. Kelly, Waka Flocka Flame, and more. Since then, Lil Jon has continued to release popular singles like "Take it Off" with Yandel and Becky G, "Bend Ova" with Tyga, and "Alive" with Offset and 2 Chainz.
