A Cinderella story of her own making

Growing up in California, Rebecca Gomez had a tumultuous childhood, troubled by family financial problems and bullying. However, Gomez was determined to find a way through it, leaning on her love of music to help. She started working in the entertainment industry, acting and performing with girl groups. Her breakthrough came through her own efforts – she started uploading videos of herself performing covers on to YouTube. Her work deeply impressed Dr. Luke, and he signed her to Kemosabe Records. Her first official single, "Becky From the Block," came out in 2013 and paved the way for her future mainstream success. Later that year she released her EP Play It Again, which featured a single with Pitbull. In 2014 the first single from her debut album came out – "Showers" would go on to be certified multi-platinum. She toured with Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, and J Balvin, building up her fanbase. In 2016 she released "Sola," branching out into Spanish-only songs. The following year she starred in the new live action Power Rangers movie as Trini, the Yellow Power Ranger.
