About Dwight Yoakam
Dwight Yoakam forever changed the direction of country music, bringing a new slant to the honky tonk of the times. Pick up your cheap Dwight Yoakam tickets today to experience the talent, passion, and attitude of this country legend for yourself!
Blazing new trails in country music
Growing up in Columbus, Ohio, Dwight Yoakam was deeply involved in the arts. He quit his studies at Ohio State University to pursue a music career. With his particular style of rock honky tonk considered unmarketable by the country music gurus in Nashville, Dwight Yoakam moved to Los Angeles. He started playing on the local circuit, performing with punk rock bands and roots rock acts, opening up new audiences to his groundbreaking country sound. His debut studio album was unleashed in 1986, his fame skyrocketing. "Honky Tonk Man" was MTV's first country music video, and publications like Time and Vanity Fair sang his praises for his unique cross-genre blend. Dwight Yoakam continued to burn bright, his 2012 album 3 Pears dubbed one of the best records of the year by outlets like NPR, Rolling Stone, and Entertainment Weekly. With over twenty albums, Dwight Yoakam has cemented his legacy with hit singles like "Guitars, Cadillacs," "A Thousand Miles for Nowhere," and "Fast as You."
