Today, The Met’s Principal Conductor is Fabrio Luisi; former Principal Conductors include Kurt Adler, Rafael Kubelik, James Levine, and Valery Gergiev. The Met Orchestra musicians are chosen through a blind audition process. Typically, more than 200 musicians audition for one role. This rigorous process ensures The Met is one of the best orchestras in the world.
