About Copa America Soccer Tournament
The Copa America Soccer Tournament is one of the more exciting events of the year for lovers of the sport, and took place in South America for the first 45 editions dating back to 1916. However, in 2016, the event headed to the U.S. for the first time, with 16 teams playing across 10 venues for the crown of the Copa America Centenario tournament. Copa America celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2016, which is why the name was changed for this edition. The only countries involved hail from North, South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. It has long been viewed as the premiere competition for South American national soccer teams, but more recently incorporated other American countries as well.
