The setting of the hotel was beautiful along the stream. It felt private and safe even though it was within walking distance of West Chester central with restaurants, shops and great coffee and easy driving distance of Longwood Gardens and Valley Forge. Appreciated all the books rather than nicknacks. If I hadn’t had so much planned and the weather was too nice to be inside, I would have read all day.

Super cute hotel, every room is picturesque. The bed was really comfortable too, which was a pleasant surprise. I stayed in the Daisy room. The room had a coffee maker and electric kettle, and there's a communal fridge and microwave in the shared areas. The location was very convenient to downtown West Chester. Would love to stay here again when I'm in town.

The Bookhouse is a wonderful concept! Prioritizing books, making them accessible everywhere, is delightful. There were adventurous and playful touches, including the secret hide-away on the first floor, behind a bookcase. Housing a hotel in a very old house is another terrific choice. The restoration process is clearly in progress; it's understandable that it's a long-term project. Drawbacks were largely fixable. Whatever scent is used in the house, apparent on the threshold, overwhelming inside, is objectionable and for me, impossible to ignore. The room itself was attractive. However, the mattress was too soft, which was hard on the back. It was clean almost everywhere, but somehow an ancient take-out box with mummified food had been left on the bathroom windowsill, behind the curtains.

I absolutely loved this place and I'm planning on coming back. Confused why it has a low start rating. I travel for work and it was perfect. Close to downtown, charming, amazing beds, great view I got the room with the standing tub and it was gorgeous. Big fan!

Staff was very responsive (they only communicated via text; you check yourself in) but they text you back right away if you need something. They even contacted me that I left something behind when I left which is not something that most hotels would do. I was wary of staying in an old building because I’ve done so before and they were so filthy but this one was very, very clean. The decor and common areas were so cute. The library theme was really adorable and they have a really good assortment of books as well. They have fruit and a coffee/tea station set out for you at all times and there is a cabinet where you can help yourself to extra towels, toiletries, etc without needing someone to get it for you. It’s actually closer to an AirBnb experience but with the security of a hotel. The outside areas are also really nice! I will say there are 3 floors and no elevator so keep that in mind! Very nice and I would stay here again if I had to stay in the area.
