The room is not a room of a 5 star hotel. Very old, damaged and outdated furniture. Non functional design. For example, night stand tables are not available on both sides of the bed. Where should I put my glasses or books if I sleep on the side of the bed without a night stand? Bathroom is also very outdated. Bathtub is damaged, giving a very bad impression, not 5 star level at all. Room service calls took more than 5 min to answer the phone, a sigh of under staffing. In general not a good experience, not a 5-star experience for sure.

The pool is in very poor condition and definitely needs maintenance. Our room had a thick layer of dust that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly in quite some time, which was disappointing. On the positive side, breakfast was very good fresh and well prepared and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. With some updates and better housekeeping, this place could be much nicer.

“The Grand Old Lady” was a joy to stay in. We arrived early and our receptionist Chloe tried hard to find us a suitable room to check in to. Instead, we got our bags delivered by a gentleman whose name I don't recall who gave us a detailed walkthrough of what the hotel offered. Parking in the public garage across from the hotel was a little fraught, as the software to register the vehicle and determine the length of the stay was written by aliens. Thankfully Vitale, a staff member at the hotel, happened to notice us struggling with the app, helped get that sorted. The restaurant staff were always accommodating and friendly. Food allowed for grazing without needing to wade through multiple courses. Would we go back? Of course we would!

Staff friendly, really comfy beds and the best location. The check in took quite some time and the outsourced parking lot was unbelievably painful. The valet and concierge tried to assist as best they could and now I’ve been double charged and trying to receive a refund. It wasn’t what I needed after a long drive in and wish you could just pay directly. The machine outside was charging 167 for one day-several of us tried. 65 dollars on app.

A number of issues starting from check-in were outside the expected standard of Fairmont hotels. Some staff were aloof and rude (ie. the Bell) , others were extremely helpful and went above and beyond our expectations (esp. one of the hotel’s engineers, Ethon - spectacular service from this gentleman). The managers we dealt with were excellent and resolved all issues - but the point is, for the standard Fairmont hotels advertise, the issues we experienced should not have occurred.
