We loved our stay at Riu Yucatán and had a great overall experience, especially considering the price.
The food was very good, with a wide variety of options, so we didn’t even feel the need to book the à la carte restaurants. There were plenty of fish and meat dishes, salads, fruits, and different Mexican options. Breakfast was excellent as well, with everything from omelettes to sweets.
The beach and sea are beautiful — white sand, clear water, and almost no seaweed during our stay. The beach itself is stunning.
The staff were fantastic: always helpful, friendly, and everything around the resort was spotless.
The animation and activities seemed good too, although we didn’t participate much ourselves.
One of the highlights for us was the wildlife on the property. We saw coatis, birds, and iguanas, and we were told that monkeys can be spotted as well — a really nice touch, especially with kids.
Downsides:
The rooms are a bit outdated, but they are still very functional, clean, and comfortable.
There are no umbrellas on the beach. There are palm trees, but with kids the shade isn’t always enough.
At checkout, our key cards were blocked exactly at noon sharp we didn’t know and accidentally closed the room but we still had some belongings inside, which was inconvenient.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay, great value for money, and we would definitely recommend!
