The rooms are decently clean, shower head had noticeable built up dust that obviously looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in a few weeks or months. The food variety is very limited for an all inclusive resort, most of the food is reused at the other “restaurants” they have on the resort. The staff is usually friendly! I don’t run into any rude or non helpful staff. My first night checking in, I was moved to their sister hotel the Riu Palace for the night because the room I had booked had “unexpected air conditioning problems”, which was a bit irritating but it was fixed the next day and wasn’t an issue to resolve. A man by the name of Tito was extremely helpful during that first night. I would stay here again, I would just hope for better and more thorough clean, and a wider variety of food!

My balcony view was of a forested area where the monkeys , Coatis, and Zerekes live. You can watch them doing their routine daily activities. I requested this building specifically from Christhian, so that I could enjoy this view. Many thanks to Christhian for granting my request .

This is such a great location to enjoy the beach and the pool at your own schedule. The bars and food are conveniently placed. The staff are amazing especially when interacting with the kids.

RIU Yucatan was a good place to stay. On the upside, the kitchen workers kept the place very clean, there was a good variety of food for my 4 night stay, the optional restaurants were good and provided freshly cooked steak and seafood at 2 of the restaurants ("Sicilia" Italian restaurant "La Margarita" steakhouse.) I had the ribeye at La Margarita and the Salmon at Sicilia, the Salmon was very good and the ribeye was okay. The grounds were kept up very well and the pool experience and entertainment were very good. If there was a downside I would say the optional restaurants were under-staffed and don't expect to get checked into your room until 3PM, we got in very early (8am) but waited until around 3 for our room. Unlike Baja many of the workers don't speak or understand english well, although they were all very respectful and tried to help. I would stay at RIU Yucatan again,

The resort was average. The food at the buffet was not as good as most I’ve stayed at. The Steakhouse was the only food I’d consider to be of good quality. Pool area felt crowded. Rooms were very clean and staff was friendly.

Property was horrible and definitely not a 5 star. Got food poisoning from the hotel food on the first day there (only drank bottled water and no ice). Room in poor condition with several broken pieces of wood in room, unsafe broken outlet missing parts, rust and black mold in shower, shower pan was peeling. Couple of days in and cold water stopped working along with no water in toilet. Had to pack up the whole family and move to another room (didnt even upgrade us or offer anything. New room was not in much better shape with even more rust along with cracked bathroom sink. No concierge or room service, pool was tiny and crowded with not much room to swim and kept getting hit with volleyballs, swim up bar was not a real swim up bar and had to get out of pool to get a drink. Food was horrible with steak being rubbery and gristle, wasn't a single good meal there. If this is what Riu considers a 5 star property, i will never stay at a Riu property again.
