Scottsdale offers all the convenience of a big city with a desert landscape. Located just next to Phoenix, the city has an eclectic array of attractions, including Butterfly Wonderland; which features an indoor rain forest and the country's largest butterfly pavilion. You can go horseback riding or ride in a stagecoach at MacDonald's Ranch. Art lovers can tour the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, and everyone will enjoy a stroll around the lake in Camelback Park. There are numerous golf courses around Scottsdale, and for baseball fans, the San Francisco Giants hold their spring training in Scottsdale Stadium.
There are concentrations of hotels along Scottsdale Road and Drinkwater Boulevard, which also feature numerous shops; from national chains to local specialty stores. These two roads are located less than a mile from Loop 101, which can be used to go to the other cities surrounding Scottsdale, including Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa. Scottsdale also has public buses and trolley routes, which carry passengers to major attractions in the region. Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX) is located just eight miles from downtown Scottsdale.
For nightlife entertainment, Scottsdale features numerous clubs ranging from cocktail lounges to western-style dance clubs. March is the time of the Arizona Musicfest, one of the biggest events of the year.
