Salem is located in Polk and Marion Counties in Western Oregon. The larger metropolis of Portland is about 50 miles to the north. History buffs often stop on Mission Street in Salem to see the Historic Deepwood Estate, the Bush House Museum and Bush's Pasture Park. The Oregon State Fair is held at the end of summer around Labor Day at the Exposition Center on 17th Street. Visitors to Salem have a broad variety of cuisines to choose from, including Chinese, Italian and American classics.
