The sunset plaza was a smallish well maintained hotel on a perfect little stretch of beach. The weather here was perfect. The food was good, produced it felt to order instead of mass produced like some options have felt at bigger resorts. Servers at restaurants and all the pool/beach servers were nice and helpful. Miguel, the “butler” was also kind and we were grateful for good food and good beach time. BUT the front desk customer service was the worst I have seen. In particular Carlos Sanchez and Alejandra behaved as though we were bothering them. We booked and paid for 2 suites. Requested them together or at least on the same floor. Understand it’s not a guarantee but we saw the room next to us check out and expressed to front desk that we were willing to downgrade to the smaller room they had in order to be on the same floor. Carlos had so much attitude & acted upset when we inquired about the room. We had no hot water for 2 days & each time we followed up, Alejandra shooed us away & never once was friendly or offered any pleasantries. We had theft in our room & immediately told supervisors/filed an incident report. We asked for the manager Efrain to try to help the hotel prevent future instances & never received any follow up or heard from him. Last night of our stay we were woken up with a phone call & banging on the door only to be told “never mind” when we asked for more info. Didn’t feel safe or welcome and the hotel lacks customer service.

The one area of improvement is the elevator maintenance. There were only two elevators and they kept breaking down often. At one point neither elevator was working for a bit

Excellent trip with my daughter. The resort is smaller and quiet which we really liked. Staff is great. Beach was perfect. Room was large and bright with a great view of the ocean. Cannot wait to head back.

After multiple stays in Puerto Vallarta’s all‑inclusive resorts, this was by far the most disappointing. The food offered at Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa was limited, repetitive, and of such poor quality that I fell ill and my infant got sick. Instead of a gourmet spread we had bland meals that left us dreading mealtime, and on our last day they had the nerve to charge us for that low‑quality food. The “luxury” label is laughable; our junior suite on an upper floor had a lovely view but the room’s amenities were limited to an ancient coffee maker. Half of the property was under construction, adding noise and obstructed access. Worse, the staff showed no empathy when our baby became sick; instead, many seemed more focused on extracting tips or upselling. Only the bellboys, including Mario, were genuinely helpful. Between the poor food, lack of compassion, dreary amenities and ongoing construction, this place feels like a three‑star hotel at best, not the four‑star property they advertise. I urge anyone considering this resort to look elsewhere; there are plenty of real all‑inclusive options in Puerto Vallarta that deliver on quality and service. To the hotel, I don't need your reply and thanking for the feedback. You had the opportunity to provide a decent service and you failed.

Everything and everyone was excellent, rooms spacious and clean , staff all around very polite and helpful, food and drinks and concept of the all Inclusive at this resort are different and amazing its not your typical Buffet style its more like Restaurant style where you have server of course with your choice of food and drinks we really liked it a lot and will be back again , beach is so close to the hotel and pools all and all perfect stay and if I can give 10 stars i would 5 is not enough the deserve better than 5 stars in my opinion
