Hotel Shares Building with Assisted/Public Housing
I stayed at this Holiday Inn in New York City and was very disappointed to learn—after checking in—that the lower floors of the building are not hotel guest rooms but appear to be used for some kind of assisted or public housing. This means there are full-time residents sharing the elevators and common areas with hotel guests.
For the price I paid (around $500 per night), I expected a standard hotel environment with proper guest security and restricted access to guest floors. Instead, anyone from the lower residential floors could freely access the hotel floors, which made us feel uneasy throughout our stay.
Had I known this in advance, I never would have booked this property. This kind of information should absolutely be disclosed on the hotel’s listing so guests can make an informed decision before booking.
