"An emergency trip to Scottsdale not expecting to spend the night. Found reasonable ($) lodging close to the hospital, Papago Inn, 4 star, good reviews. Photos revealed an older property but appeared clean and well maintained. Lobby was dark, damp, ceiling had water damage w/sheet rock, paint peeling away, a bucket on the floor. This should have been a red flag, we just needed rest and I had already paid online, non-refundable. l was surprised to find a $150 deposit with a credit card as well. Parking lot was a little sketchy also the gated area to enter the rooms. Entering the room I noticed a white box with vents above the wall at the bathroom, light bulbs were burnt out above bathroom sink, flipping switches trying to turn lights on no luck. There was a piece of wood with a drawer handle on it above the room door (inside) that appeared to be a cool air vent (this was probably 7' high and unable reach to close). Above the piece of wood the paint and drywall was peeling. In the bathtub above the tile there were holes poorly spackled. Tub wasn't caulked well, yellow, cracked. The room was very cold and we couldn't find a thermostat. I asked at the front desk and was told the remote on the desk operated the white box on the wall. The heater/ac unit was disgustingly dirty and could only feel heat if you were standing under it. We slept with our clothes on and didn't use bathtub. Hotel Assoc., Better Business Bureau, Health Dept should inspect this property. DONT STAY HERE!"
