La Quinta has always been a property I’ve enjoyed staying at, but this particular location will cause me to rethink choosing them in the future. First, let me say the staff is very friendly and customer oriented. When we arrived for our stay and walked into our two room suite the room was in poor condition. The couch was worn and had stains all over it. The air conditioner looked broken but was working despite its appearances. The curtains, carpet and furniture looked worn out. I was ready to find other accommodations as this was an anniversary trip. We went to the front desk and the gentleman explained that they were in the middle of renovations but offered me to go look at a room that had been recently renovated. Although it was not the suite I had booked it was in much better condition. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast tasty. When considering this location keep in mind that it is an older hotel, it’s near railroad tracks and is an active railway. The most frustrating thing was the road construction going on at night making it difficult to find your way into the hotel. We drove around for almost an hour our first evening trying to get to our hotel. I told the front desk that a sign was needed between the Chevron and Shell gas stations at W Shaw Ave. and N Barcus Ave. La Quinta can only be accessed off N Golden State Blvd. I was also unprepared for the smell of pot outside and inside the hotel and the gentleman who was vomiting outside below our window at 3 am.
