Chile, the world’s longest country and one of South America’s most stable economies, is a country of astounding beauty and contrasts. To the north is arid desert while to the south the opposite occurs and culminates in the infamous Strait of Magellan, and further inland Chile becomes a river valley. The Atacama Desert is best avoided during summer and winter due to extreme temperatures, and those interested in attending one of Chile’s festivals should plan for January, February, or September.
