The room was spacious but had a few issues- the drain in the sink was clogging. Maintenance had to come fix. There was also little gnats around the room. And a dehumidifier we had to keep emptying. The food was sub par. Food at Cianti was ok. Never went to the other sushi restaurant as the host desk never made the reservations they wrote down. Ended up having to go out to eat that night. the Balam restaurant lets its food sit out way too long. Nothing really special to get excited about. The chairs by the pool are nice if you can get one. People wake up and put their stuff on them to save it. Even tho they have rules to prevent this . The beach was nice- location is decent.

The staff were amazing. So helpful and friendly. The hotel itself was not the best. There were a lot of maintenance issues, mainly plumbing. The hotel smelled like sewage a lot, toilets clogging, toilets leaking, showers not working. The rooms were very basic, nothing fancy. The Italian restaurant was a complete let down. Not good at all. The Japanese restaurant was AMAZING. The buffet for all the other meals, was very up and down. Not a lot of options, but they always had fruit and bread out! But the food was stale or very plain a lot of the time. The snack bar on the beach had yummy nachos! The deck restaurant was also very good! But not the bacon burgers! The coconut ice cream was the best part. The bars were both very good, all drinks we tried were amazing. My favorite was the mango margarita with tajin salt rim. This hotel does not have very many entertainment options. There is yoga, volleyball, water aerobics, bracelet making, and boxing. There was karaoke and a dj most nights in the lobby bar. And the had live music in the buffet and Italian restaurant most nights. The elevators are very slow and the only building that has them is the main building. Don’t stay on the first or second floors in the main building, they are very loud when the “night club” is in full swing. The spa was very nice and well worth it! All in all, I wouldn’t stay here again, but it was still a great vacation!

You are required to wear long pants to dinner at Balam - the buffet. They have very aggressive sales people in the lobby. Minimal seating around the pool. Pizza at The Deck is not good. My girlfriend got a stomach virus. Standard room is small. Not bad though just don’t expect too much. Service is hit or miss. Ocean is very pretty and the hot tub was warm.

The bar was stoced every day with 2 large bottles of still water, 2 sodas, and 2 corona beer cans. Room cleaned every day, towels changed every day, the room was spotless. Where do I begin? The staff at NYX deserves a 5. The grounds deserve a 5. The room deserves a 3 - it smelled moldy the entire time and the king-size bed was far too bouncy to get a good night’s sleep in; however, the cleaning team was great and we came back to a clean room every night. A little more about the room - the front desk staff claimed that they ran out of king bed rooms (which we had paid for through Expedia), but if we wanted to upgrade for an extra $50 a night, they could accommodate us right away. The alternative was a room with two queen beds. Normally, we’d be fine with two queens but this vacation was supposed to be special for us so we caved and upgraded to the bigger room with a perfect view of the Gulf from our private balcony. The view really was beautiful. Oh, and they gave us a dinner voucher to the taco restaurant 🙄. The first evening, our group went to dinner at The Deck. Right on the beach - lovely. Then we got our food. This is where things really went south. There’s not enough room for me to tell viewers everything. Just know that the food gets a “1”. The meat is mechanically modified, according to one member in our group who happens to work for a large food distributor. He described how they do it and it’s gross, but made sense after tasting the meat. Sushi at Umami is very good, but hibachi chx and steak are fake. Chianti is good. Beware the dress code for the buffet, Umami, and Chianti.

Hotel's greatest asserts are the beach and the personnel. Employees were most helpful and always willing to make your stay enjoyable. Bartenders were great mixologists. A few minor disappointments: Could not bring even a cup of coffee out of the restaurant Only sit down restaurants were specialty dining The house wine was undrinkable, in my opinion

Let’s start with the good. The people are great and provide a great service. Carlos at the pool bar is a powerhouse. This guy is works hard and does amazing work. Armando is right next to Carlos always working hard to make your stay amazing. Cindy and Thresita are your go to at the beach they hustle to keep you taken care of and never let you down. Stephanie is super fun and super nice. She does a great job bringing the party all day! Now for the not so great. The food is just ok I’d describe it as your local all you can eat buffet quality. Some things are good and others not so great. Find what you can survive on for your stay. The Room is clean but could use some work I am not going to pick it apart. We stayed in room 813 couldn’t figure out the ceiling fan and the outlers/receptacles won’t retain the cord because they are worn out. The hallway outside the room can be very loud and the doors are very “thin” so if you’re a light sleeper beware. Some how on the first night the ironing board fell out of the closet and threw the doors . I thought the door was being kicked in by the cartel. Gave the wife and I a heart attack.Some things to be aware of. It’s a smaller hotel so it has it what I would consider a smaller size pool. There are limited seating around the pool so it’s tough to get one get there early. Most of their seating is on the beach, but it can still fill up quickly when we went in first week of January. The hot tub closes at 7pm
