The Historic Rex House

The Rex House is a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home that has been renovated while preserving its original charm and many historic design features. Each bedroom includes a queen bed and en-suite bathroom. The master suite offers a sectional that converts to a full-size bed, a seating/sleeping area, and a Juliet balcony. The home also features a contemporary chef’s kitchen, an open dining area that seats eight, and additional seating for three at the peninsula.
Located just seven minutes from LSU and within walking distance of downtown Baton Rouge’s dining, entertainment, and nightlife, this restored home is ready to welcome new stories, memories, and laughter for you and your family.

Built circa 1850 and recently updated in 2018, the Rex House is a contributing property in the Historic Beauregard Town District. Its designation was completed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Louisiana Department of Historic Preservation. Originally constructed as a four-room, one-story home without a kitchen or bathrooms, it was expanded around 1910 to add a kitchen with Victorian accents.

Today, the three original downstairs rooms and wood floors have been preserved, along with the handcrafted staircase and two upstairs rooms, including the spacious master suite.
