The room stunk from the moment we opened the door. It smelled like dirty man hair. The pillows on the one bed were the problem, and the smell got onto the sheets. I called to replace all the bedding, which they promptly did.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Dog-friendly; provided bed, dog bowl, poop bags, and even a toy! Had to go across the street to Hotel Canoe for any questions but not that big of a deal. About 25 min walk to downtown Banff which was fine. Would recommend!
I love staying at the Dorothy. It is pet friendly, affordable, and very comfortable. In Banff, those three things occurring together is rare. I love that you can enjoy the amenities of the Canoe across the street, and I thoroughly enjoy our breakfasts at Sudden Sally. I also love its location in town as it is easy to get to as we arrive into the town. We are close enough to the action to walk to any shops or restaurants, but we are also far enough away as to enjoy the quiet when it’s time for rest. A lovely spot with great staff.
Loved the quaint old time vibe of the motel in the woods and off the main street, but with all the amenities offered by The Canoe just across the street. The roof top hot pools and the view were absolutely incredible, Sudden Sally was delicious (and the happy hour deal phenomenal) and loved the size of the rooms and the bath soaps & shampoos!
The room was perfect. The staff at the Canoe hotel were all wonderful. Great stay overall.

The service was perfect and the front desk staff is amazing. The loaning of bear spray for hiking helped tremendously and we had access to the pool. Our stay was for a few days. The last couple days we woke up with sore backs due to the bed. Biggest complaint was housekeeping never cleaned the floors so dirt ended up on the beds and elsewhere even when we took our shoes off at the door. Overall a positive experience, a short walk to downtown. Cleanliness could be improved.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and for days...the check in was 4pm we came too early (just excited to see the beauty of banff😊)...front desk agent just put tag on our luggage and just came back around 4pm...front desk poeple were very nice...there is a free roam bus ticket we just used it going to Banff gondola & Minnewanka lake...this place is walkable to banff town..have co-op open 24hrs if you feel snacky at night...how i wish Sudden sally coffee shop opens a little bit earlier...
