Nice setting, a bit out of the center of town. If you happen to have a room facing the mountains, it's a peaceful setting, otherwise you will be facing a road. Check-in staff was very helpful, however, the lobby is only accessible by stairs and when you have heavy luggage, it is a hassle. The service in the bar and restaurant was extremely slow.
It was the greatest place to stay. It is right up tge street from downtown.
Our room had a great view of tunnel mountain from our patio.
There were lots of trails close for hiking.
The outside staff were all very friendly.
They were all over making the grounds look great by raking, watering and putting in new plants.
The hot tub was spacious and clean.
The restaurant had a great buffalo burger.
We would absolutely stay tgere again.
What a fantastic place to stay!
The room we were in had a oatiothat looked out to Tunnel Mtn.
There were lots of hiking/biking trails across the road from our room.
The restsurant on site was very good.
We loved our stay

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Disliked: Staff & service
Room was nice with a nice kitchen area/amenities and good linen. Bathroom had low water pressure in shower and had to walk into the showere to turn it on (pet peeve) and glass shower door was squeaky. Main gripe was when we tried to goto onsite restaurant for desert and drinks at 8pm and were not even acknowledged by waitstaff/front desk/host or anything for 5 minutes so we ended up just leaving. Both my partner and I made eye contact with a waiter and they just ignored us. Hot tub area also looked better in pictures then reality. Also, way uphill and away from main part of town...so not walkable if thats your thing, and banff parking is expensive and/or difficult to find downtown. There is a bus across the street, but hotel staff didnt tell us anything about it or offer any suggestions.
We had a very lovely stay here and for the most part, we are very happy with the hotel. It is a bit pricey for what you get. Parking is minimal and there were just the nit picky things like no where to put shampoo etc in the shower, the TV not working properly, etc.that didn't make it feel like it was in the price category it is. The transportation into town is a huge issue for the town as the number of people taking the #2 into Banff from Tunnel mountain is huge.
The Buffalo lodge was very quiet and peaceful. It was nice to be away from the crowds of town. The bus stop is just a minute across the street. Very nice staff. We had no issues.
Parking was scarce on a Friday night when the place was full.
Our first time to the Canadian Rockies and Banff, what a truly spectacular place! Everywhere you turn the glory of creation is shouting out to you! We enjoyed being able to walk a few steps and have amazing - endless views!
Our room was perfect for us, with one, no two exceptions. First, parking is a bit cramped especially if you are driving a pick up truck but we were able to find a spot to squeeze it in. Second, we could hear the neighbors next to us talking and stomping around until 3 am. Likewise I imagine they could hear us as well.
The food at the Prow was awesome too. We ate there two nights and had a great time sitting on the patio. We went into town for a dinner and it simply did not compare with the food at the Prow.
Overall, a wonderful trip and stay at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge.
