Booked a standard king, but apparently that means absolutely zero view, this room faces an atrium of old dilapidated furniture and a storage space for banquet chairs. We did go back to the desk and asked for a different room, thankfully moved but to a room with super limited view and the shower curtain had holes, bathroom vent was caked in dust and fluff, kettle was crusted with calcium build up and not useable. The location is good, as it is very close to the main avenue. Restaurant on site is not open for all hours and saw no clear signage of the hours. Tried to do brunch on Saturday at 11:30 and it was not open. Hot tubs have low powered jets, sauna and steam were ok, but run down. All in all a very average property with high rates. But close to town, which was the nicest part about it.

Ptarmigan Inn

Stayed here to celebrate my graduation with my mom who hadn’t been to Banff in 15 years, and was surprised to see our room didn’t have a window. We had a balcony that overlooked the foyer which we tried to look past as we weren’t spending a bunch of time in the room. To start, there is not enough parking in the parkade for guests. The place has dust everywhere, the trees in the lobby, the skier statue, our room had used used ear things on the floor, and we were given half a toilet paper roll. The pillows are like sleeping on rocks, and we were awoken at 2am by the front staff loudly talking for almost 2+ hours in the foyer so we had zero rest and left tired. Would never stay here again and disappointed this was my mom’s experience in Banff and that I paid 250$ for this hotel room for a night.

The room was clean and the hotel is very conveniently located. There is shopping and dining options very close by. Parking was available for our entire time but was a pretty close to full as the weekend came near.

The Ptarmigan Inn is located in the heart of Banff main street area. We only stayed one night at the Inn after our Rocky Mountaineer experience before traveling on to Calgary. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. We loved the overall look of Ptarmigan Inn with its combination of traditional wood carvings and contemporary artwork. The full sized ski racer flying out of the wall above the elevators was very cool. The food at the restaurant was great with great service. The bison meatballs with pasta was very yummy. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. We would stay at Ptarmigan Inn next time we visit Banff and for a longer time instead of one night.

This location is excellent. It is within walking distance to many things to do downtown Banff. However it is older, smaller bathroom, no microwave, very poor lighting in the room and the heater was so loud when it came on it woke me up at times. The beds were comfortable. If they could improve the lighting and upgrade the rooms a bit for the price we paid it would be much greater.
