Playa Caribe 9 is a third-floor condo in Akumal’s south tower, combining Caribbean charm with spacious design. This 1,420 sq ft vacation home sleeps up to six guests in two ensuite bedrooms, each with remodeled bathrooms and double sinks. The primary suite has a king bed and private balcony, while the guest suite offers two full beds and its own balcony.

The living and dining area open through wide sliding doors to a furnished terrace, creating an effortless indoor-outdoor flow. The kitchen is fully stocked with modern appliances and a breakfast bar, perfect for easy meals or entertaining.

Cultural artwork and handicrafts bring a sense of place, while central air conditioning throughout ensures year-round comfort. Guests may also let in the Caribbean breezes by opening sliding glass doors across the three patios.

Shared amenities include a beachfront swimming pool, loungers, BBQ grill, and outdoor shower. Services include a welcome basket, daily housekeeping, concierge support, parking, purified water, and beach towels.

Our group of 4 stayed here for 6 nights in early April and had a wonderful time! Unit was clean, quiet and comfortable. Easy walk to a lagoon for snorkeling and to a few nearby restaurants. There were a couple small stores nearby. The pool was great and much used by us since the beach at the condo had too much sargassum to be usable. We rented an on site golf cart two of the days and used it to go to Playa Akumel. We felt completely safe at all times. We would definitely return!

We loved Playa Caribe 9. The condo itself was beautiful. Super comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. Fantastic views and breezes. Location was walkable to everywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is very well maintained. The sargassum was horrible when we were there. So no ocean walks or swims but we took the gamble. We still had a wonderful vacation in Akumal.

Spectacular, soothing view of the ocean. The condo was clean, cheerfully decorated and well-supplied. Beds were comfortable. Beach towels provided. Showers were hot, A/C worked well. Location was ideal for exploring the area. Parking was a breeze. The whole area felt very safe. Potable water was provided and plentiful. My spouse and 3 kids (17,19,21) loved the rental and the location.

There were men there almost every day to try to clear it away but unfortunately they weren’t able to keep up with the enormous amount at this time of year. The condo, however had everything we needed during our trip and the amount of space was perfect. I would stay here again at a different time of year due to the seaweed, but overall it was an excellent stay!

Beautifully decorated, lovely location!

This was our first time in Akumal and we loved it! The location of the condo fit us well. A short walk to the beach bar and to town. Super low key and we snorkeled right outside of the condo. The condo was beautiful, comfortable and so well decorated. There was plenty of room to spread out, the kitchen was well appointed with everything you need. We will definitely be back!

Playa Caribe #9 Rocks

Fabulous home-like condo on the 3rd Floor overlooking the beautiful Half Moon Bay. I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a laid back environment in an upscale property. Good local restaurants, beautiful beaches, extremely safe and a multitude of outdoor activities. We’ve been coming to Akumal for 25 years and loved staying at Playa Caribe. Akumal has definitely grown in size over the years but still has a boutique and personal feel. I highly recommend this property!

Super relaxing experience

Spent a week at Playa Caribe #9 as a family of four (kids 8 and 11) and enjoyed everything about the experience. The condo is well equipped and extremely comfortable with a spectacular view of Half Moon Bay. The staff and management of the building are super helpful answering questions and pointing new visitors in the right direction. Being able to drink the water in the condo was a huge bonus for us as well. We used Akumal as a home base to explore beaches, cenotes, ruins, Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. The location in Akumal was perfect for visiting all of these sites. If you are looking for a safe, clean and comfortable condo in the Akumal area I highly recommend Playa Caribe #9. We plan on staying there again on a future visit.

Amazing stay!

Despite the crisis of Covid19, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in quiet paradise at Playa Caribe #9. The condo is spacious and the decor is amazing. Communication from the owner, Shari, was fantastic. We did several of her suggestions, including the Santa Cruz cenote, which was truly memorable. We snorkelled right out front of the condo several times and saw lots of fish, 2 sea turtles, a sting ray. As a result of closing borders, we needed to end our stay one day early. Shari was understanding and generous in this regard. We highly recommend this condo and owner! We would not hesitate to stay again!

Beautiful Condo--You won't be disappointed

I booked a Condo at Playa Caribe for a 5 day stay to attend my nephews wedding. I chose #9 on the 3rd floor and booked through Loco Gringo. (Loco Gringo is wonderful) The Condo are by Half Moon Bay...beautiful view of the ocean and close to town/restaurants/little stores. The Condo was spacious and beautiful....such a fun, gorgeous area for a wedding. The Manager Pablo was so kind and accommodating. We will definitely recommend and come back for another stay. The only thing about the 3rd floor is there is not an elevator.....so bags have to go up stairs...but totally worth it!!!

Late November in Akumal

The unit itself is very nice and clean. As opposed to other VRBO's we have been to in Mexico everything here worked. The a/c, all the locks, the safe, the wifi, all the light switches and lights, everything. Nice view, nice art work etc. Felt like what I would want my own place to look like. If you plan to do a lot of your own cooking make sure you stop at the Chedurai in Puerto Aventura as the prices for the limited food available in both the pueblo and Akumal proper are very high. Lots of decent pots and pans to cook with. Not garage sale stuff. Welcome basket was a nice addition and the big water jug was appreciated.

Playa Caribe Condo #9

Wow wow wow!! Our expectations were blown away. This condo was exceptional. Perfect for our family. Best beach location in Half Moon Bay with phenomenal snorkeling (nerf shark, sting rays, fish, lobster, moray eel) directly in front of the condo. Beachside pool was super refreshing, our kids loved swimming in it everyday. Seaweed did wash in for one day during our stay but was very tolerable and did not alter our beach activities in any way. Augustine (property manager) was very nice and helpful. Housekeeping staff was prompt and did a great job tiding up the condo if you desired. The town of Akumal was a perfect location for a family vacation, quiet, peaceful, relaxing, beautiful, and away from partying or overcrowding. Great restaurants within walking distance. Thanks again for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back next year!!!

Reviewer Comments: The little enclave around Half Moon Bay is delightful, and a perfect escape/welcoming after a day of hectic activities around the Maya Riviera. The unit is very comfortable and well maintained with both maid and management staff on-site daily. Especially nice is the table and sofa on the deck for early morning coffee. The location is great except when the sargassum grass comes in as Playa Caribe is in the middle of the bay where it accumulates. A couple of comments for planning your menu - there is no conventional oven (a toaster oven too small for pizza's) and there is no gas grill on the property for grilling. Neither is a problem, just good to know ahead of time.

Playa caribe #9 will always hold a special place in our hearts, we made some fun family memories there. We had top notch service with everyone we came into contact with, David with Akumal Direct was phenomenal. During our stay at Playa Caribe we rented a golf cart and that was the highlight we had so much fun trolling around the beautiful town of Akumal. We did have some minor issues with scheduled transportation but all in all it was minor, David did his best to resolve quickly. This was truly one of the best vacations our little girls will always remember this beautiful place and the fun memories we made.

That's out of anyone's control, the weather. I could only locate 1 of 2 hair dryers & the 1 should be updated with a newer model. We were told there would be salt & pepper, eventually found salt though we'd purchased one by then. There were no coffee filters but the maid found some for us when requested. The daily housecleaning is fabulous & so appreciated. Loco ****** was very responsive during the process. If we ever return to Akumal, we would stay at Playa Caribe again.

Unbelievably Beautiful!

Condo #9 is an incredible condo. This was not my first visit to Mexico but it was my first stay in Akumal and Playa Caribe #9. Oh, I wish I had discovered it earlier. The condo was everything we could have wanted—spectacular ocean views through huge patio windows; 3 patios to watch the ocean, sunset, jungle; a stunning master bedroom with beautiful decorator bed linens; double sinks in both baths; comfy sofa with pillows and large window view to the ocean; able to see view from every room. You can open the windows to hear the waves. The condo was like a home and so comfortable and easy to live in. We took advantage of so many activities in akumal, Buena Vida and turtle Bay bakery, renting bicycles, snorkeling in the water just out front of the condo. We even saw two turtles. Yay. This condo is truly the best and I recommend that you all stay here. Augustin in the office was so sweet and helpful. DS
