Some of the cons are not a fault of theirs: Mosquitos were very bad- I mean the worst i’ve ever experienced. They were trying to mitigate them, and had bug spray at the restaurants, but we still bought and went through a whole bottle. Because of the mosquitos it was hard to enjoy the swim up room. Only used it once since the mosquitos were biting my face, scalp, etc. Air conditioning did not work well at night in our first room, we thought it could be from the brief power outages, but it got to 75 degrees at times yet stayed cold during the day. A day or so after mentioning it to the concerige they moved us and we did not have the problem in the new room. Food was great and fresh everywhere we went. If I was scoring food and friendliness of staff alone it would be 5 stars. I have food allergies and Santiago at the buffet went above and beyond to get me a pastry I had been wanting. They called us by name and always checked on us. The buffet food was the best I have had, and the restaurants were top notch. Upselling was draining. People were telling us they tried to sell them on packages, which is understandable. But it was a 1-3 hour sales pitch for a discounted spa massage. I also felt swarmed as we left when a sales woman tried to convince us to book our next stay. I’ve stayed at other resorts where they were not as bothersome about it. Parking worked out. We had a rental car but the trees dripped sap or something. So it was dirty.

Pefect one week stay. The best Secrets we have been to. Will return. I was a little worried about bugs, but we didn't see hardly any. There was seaweed a few days, but they cleaned it well out the water, so we could still enjoy the beach.

The property is very lush and well maintained. Room was spotless, fridge stocked with your preference. Nightly turn down service with fresh towels. Lots of umbrellas available for when it rained. Building concierge was great, always checking on you. Lots of entertainment during the day and evenings. Great selection of restaurants and all were excellent. The main buffet was open for breakfast and lunch and the selection was overwhelming. Waiters and staff are very attentive and always checking that you are satisfied and have what you need. They go above and beyond. Every area was serviced well. Always wanting to know how they could help you. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay.

All the amenities were great! Spa, pool.. our room was an ocean view however the tall trees covered most of the view. However, it was still beautiful!

The spa was absolutely incredible. The grounds of this hotel is gorgeous! However, the staff at the pool needs to be more clear into how many people are allowed to rent the day beds beforehand. There is evidently a difference in how they treat certain guests, versus others. There is no distinction between the regular guests and the preferred ones.

My wife and I visited Secret Akumal Resort for the first time, and we are incredibly happy that we chose this beautiful place for our vacation. We were absolutely delighted with everything! The service was exceptional – the staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and always went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. In particular, we would like to highlight our waiter, Isus. His service was impeccable; he is a very knowledgeable professional, attentive to detail, and genuinely caring. His kindness and attention greatly contributed to making our dinners special and most enjoyable. The beach was simply paradise: pristine, with soft white sand and unbelievably clear turquoise water. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. The food exceeded all our expectations. The variety and quality at all the restaurants were outstanding, and every meal was a delightful experience. All in all, our vacation was a tremendous success, and we created wonderful memories that we will cherish for a long time. We truly fell in love with Secret Akumal and sincerely hope to return one day.

We celebrated our anniversary and my 40th birthday at Secrets Akumal in June, and it was absolutely amazing. The resort itself is stunning, but what truly set it apart was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. Especially our concierge! From the little details to the overall service, we felt so well taken care of. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, celebration, and luxury. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!
