"This hotel needs a complete refurb. The room had old chipped furniture, stained carpet, cracked ceiling & scuffed paintwork. The mattress was lumpy. A latte coffee was £5 came cold, in small glass , two sips & it was gone. Bar area very tired, ripped seating. There's a musty smell of neglect mixed with a sweeter detergent smell, quite unpleasant. We, unfortunately, paid £200 for a night stay expecting a stay worthy of that amount. I would have been disappointed paying half that amount. Its very overpriced. That all said its in a good location, a few 100 yards from Morar railway station. About 2 miles from Mallaig & just over a mile from the silver sands of Morar. The dining room has lovely views over the loch. I paid extra for the view & it was our room's saving grace. The bed linen was clean as were the towels & the bathroom. Although outdated with a curved shower, it had good pressure & was hot. I prefer a shower rather than a bath with shower over & this had a shower only. Much better. The food was ok as was the breakfast, which was a buffet style. The fried egg was more hard boiled as it had been standing a while under the hot plate. This hotel could be fabulous but it needs a lot spent on it. Its years & years of neglect isn't the current management's fault but their description of the property is not fair."
