A drive to stardom

As a teenager, Chris Daughtry decided to commit himself to his musical passion. He began fronting bands, starting with his high school band Cadence and the moving on to other projects. Anxious to pursue his dreams in any way possible, in 2006 Daughtry auditioned for and was accepted on the fifth season of American Idol. He was booted from the competition in a final four showdown with the future runner-up, Katharine McPhee. However by that time he had a strong and devoted fan base, and it wasn't long before he was signed to a label. He pulled together a band and released a self-titled album, which hit the top of the charts. Singles like "It's Not Over," "Waiting for Superman," and "Home" have made Daughtry a radio mainstay. In 2018 Daughtry announced the release of Cage to Rattle, the first album from the band in five years.
