Hold the Ball –It was Jan 6, 2007, and the Cowboys and the Seahawks were battling it out for the 2006 NFC Wild Card game. With more than sixty thousand fans in attendance at the Qwest Field in Seattle Washington, the Cowboys entered the fourth quarter leading 17-13. With a safety and touchdown the Seahawks sneaked past the Cowboys 21-20. Inside the final two minutes, with the Cowboys driving, Martin Gramatica came in for a tap in field goal. What seemed like a simple snap, hold and kick turned out to be a disaster. Tony Romo, the Cowboys quarterback, was unable to cleanly hold the ball for Gramatica and instead tried to run for the first down only to be tackled by Seahawks safety Jordan Babineaux at the two yard line. As a result, the Seahawks were successfully able to run out the clock and move to the Divisional playoffs.

The Original ‘Hail Mary’ – It was a 1975 NFL playoff game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings when Roger Staubach threw a long lofty pass to the left field. The only difference was that Staubach had no particular receiver in mind. It was an ‘up for grabs’ pass for any receiver in the vicinity. This was a desperate attempt by the Cowboys as they were behind the Vikings with little time left on the clock. As Staubach threw the pass, it somehow miraculously found wide receiver Drew Pearson who caught the ball and reached the end zone for a game winning touchdown. When asked what he was thinking when he threw the pass, the Roman Catholic Staubach famously said "I closed my eyes and said a Hail Mary."
